The third and final round of the triple race Townsville Triathlon Club Summer Aquathon Series started with 35 athletes. Many who competed in previous events turned out on a cool-ish Sunday morning, trying to better their previous times. A few Townsville triathlon stalwarts crept out of the woodwork and joined other series newcomers out on the run/swim/run/swim/run course. Aaron Hill remembered which day the race was on, on this occassion, and set a series time record to take out the race and the series. Jesse Kuskopf finished on equal series points to take second in the series, even though handicapped by a pre-evening pie eating competition. Club president, Marty Lewis, also having a not-so-good day, took series third . Vanessa Holmes again proved that she is a force to be reckoned with on the race course, taking out the series triple of firsts. With the first triathlon coming up in 3 weeks it will be interesting to see how she goes when the bike leg is added. Thanks to sponsors, Sportsco, Topbrand Cycles, and Neverfail for their support.
